Assistant Professor of Marine Biology

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

This position is a full-time tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Marine Biology beginning August 2024.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach undergraduate biology and marine biology courses primarily for majors, work with students on senior capstone projects, and maintain and use the living laboratory (aquariums/reptiles/birds).  This position will teach courses on the main campus and facilitate field experiences and research trips for students as required.  Candidates must be able to engage students both in and out of the classroom. In addition, the successful candidate must be at a professional level of SCUBA certification (dive master/asst. instructor/instructor) and be able to develop and maintain relationships with research stations. Expected teaching load is twelve hours each semester with additional responsibilities to include holding office hours, serving on committees, advising students, and continuing professional development.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Tenure-track candidates should have an earned doctorate in biology or marine biology.  Non-tenure track candidates with an earned master’s degree in these areas are invited to apply as well.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be able to stand or sit for the duration of the class.  Must be able to speak in a clear and loud voce

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
